Hi

you cannot create a new independent project each you are testing new ideas ! this is all latin square stuff, perfect, just add new sub-project / applications to your existing boinc projet.

You already manage ODLK, ODLK1 and now ODLK2 !

This is not how boinc is designed and supposed to work, you are adding confusion in the boinc world and community.

Look at LHC, PrimeGrid, etc, many boinc projects regroup similar or even different experiments in a single boinc project, because it is the same team / topic / etc (any criteria) that regroup them.

Eventually you can have a separate development project (LHC has LHCdev, Einstein has Albert, Seti has Seti dev, etc) where you will regroup development versions of all your applications, if you want to clearly separate production and developments versions. But even though, boinc allows to manager test/beta versions together with production versions : there are simple options in boinc project website template to allow user to choose to participate, or not, to test versions.

I suggest you add my new experiment to the ODLK1 BOINC project.
You can?

Talk to the ODLK1 BOINC project administrator to this effect.
What will he tell you ???
Then you will tell me how to add a new experiment to the ODLK1 BOINC project.

In the same way, everyone said that we cannot create an ODLK1 BOINC project.
Do you remember that?

See this post and discussion in this thread
https://boinc.multi-pool.info/latinsquares/forum_thread.php?id=57&postid=728#728

For a year now I have been persuading the administrators of the ODLK and ODLK1 BOINC projects to launch my experiment.
I ask you to persuade them !!!
Maybe you force them ???
I can not do it!

There is a rule: is it forbidden to create a BOINC project with the same task?
Where is this rule written down?

This is not how boinc is designed and supposed to work, you are adding confusion in the boinc world and community.

The same task (finding ODLS of order 10) is handled by the Gerasim@Home BOINC project
http://forum.boinc.ru/default.aspx?g=posts&t=2008#post86752

The search task ODLS of order 9 is the BOINC project Rake Search
http://forum.boinc.ru/default.aspx?g=posts&t=2063#post88950

I hope this does not create confusion?
If you are confused, leave aside all these BOINC projects (Gerasim@Home, Rake Search, ODLK, ODLK1), they are not for you!

It is not "forbidden" or "not forbidden", it is common sense.

Boinc is a free and open infrastructure for the world, anybody can use it the way he wants.

But by slicing into pieces close researchs done by a same team / people into a list of separate boinc projects, instead of creating sub-projects to a main boinc project, yes you add confusion for the regular crunchers.

And the result is less visibility for each of these projects, and less crunchers. I think you complained in the other topics to have few participants : ODLK is *already* a small and little known project, each of these strange children will be even less know...

I am expressing my personal opinion here, but as a member of the boinc community for 15 years and active member of l'Alliance Francophone team, I also have some experience and opinion about this.

Now maybe you have difficulties in your main research environment / team ("For a year now I have been persuading the administrators of the ODLK and ODLK1 BOINC projects to launch my experiment.") but you can explain them it is not good for them neither, size matters, "l'union fait la force, l'oignon fait la farce".

Bon courage !

I do not find any confusion.

You express your opinion in a categorical form.

I have been explaining them for a year now, but they do not want to understand me.
They do not want to launch new experiments in the ODLK and ODLK1 BOINC projects.
So your advice is useless.

I need to perform new experiments for my research.
And I'm looking for a way to do this.
This is common sense!

You understand mathematics, but not how BOINC is used by most of the crunchers.
Jerome is right.
You don't see any confusion because you don't use BOINC as we do.
Multiplying projects instead of developing new applications is not the best way to use the computing power OFFERED by BOINC users.
The only good thing is badges, if you create new ones.
Pleas keep in mind most of the crunchers posting on your forum or discussing with you have sometimes invested thousands of € in their crunchboxes.
In order to help you achieving your objectives.
Now your main objective is to find the right people to help you with the set up of your projects.
Good luck.

Jerome is right.

It is very difficult to understand how BOINC works?
Harder math? :)

Now your main objective is to find the right people to help you with the set up of your projects.

I have no BOINC projects!
Do you understand this ???

I find people who help me in setting up my Applications (experiments).
So I found Tomas Brada.
And he creates a BOINC project.
How can he otherwise set up a BOINC project ??? You know it? Then tell me how I can do my experiments in a BOINC project that I don’t have?
I do not have access to the servers of the ODLK and ODLK1 BOINC projects and cannot use these projects for my experiments.

So tell me: what should I do! ???

I do not forcibly take away computing power from anyone.
All people voluntarily help with calculations in all existing BOINC projects.
I cannot participate in the calculations of BOINC projects.
I have only one low-power computer.
I am doing dozens of experiments on this computer!
I also pay for electricity and for the Internet from my very small pension.

My main goal is to solve the problem.
For this, I need experiments in a BOINC project.
I realize this goal.
Do not bother me!
I do not bother anyone, working on my problem.

It seems that the discussion continues only in one way: I cannot create a new BOINC project.
I expressed my opinion.
I'm tired of explaining the reasons!

I close the topic.
