Posted 16 Feb 2018 by ice Post: hi, this morning a remote server reboot cause it not starting (the server were patched with a new kernel for Spectre cpu bug), so until 5 hours I cannot get phisical access to the server and reset the cpu hang up. With this stop, I will install other 2 disks to the server for use them if needed in future. thanks |

Posted 18 Nov 2017 by ice Post: hi, actually I reopen the server with old disk, so in this night clients can synchronized again to the server. I have some difficulty to point boot-loader to start into the new disk as the old disk is integrated and so it cannot be removed and this makes automatic configuration of the boot loader to still use the old disk. So tomorrow I will synchronized the modified files from old to new disk (incremental fast approach) and in mean time I study a manual configuration for the boot loader that I hope it fix the automatic one. thanks |

Posted 15 Nov 2017 by ice Post: hi, It is probably a data failure in write the numeric solution to result file, however, there is still present the two tasks of the solution: odlk3_23870_1510518454.957231, 37, 10 odlk3_15357_1510534987.655800, 36 The strange things is that all the 3 files where there are stored the solutions have the same pattern, but task name is visible (the one I extracted above)., so all tree files where written the same way (and it is unlikely that the same errors comes in tree different files in the same point). The simple way to resolve this is to reprocess this two task on the PC and verify the output of it. p.s. new disk is already arrived today, however I can follow the original plan of copy the data on Saturday. Maybe I will install it into the server before Friday (it require little downtime, just the time to insert it and turn on the server) |

Posted 14 Nov 2017 by ice Post: I don't think it could be stable all the time during this periods as kernel could freeze on some disk timeout errors and need a manual shout-down for restarting it. At least a user could set up BOINC to download works unit for 1 days of elaboration as at least I can restart the server when I'm physically at home (so from 18.00 to 06.30) |

When I make the disk copy on Saturday the server will be sconnected for the time the copy required (maybe some hours) thanks p.s yes, the server will stay on in this periods |

Posted 13 Nov 2017 by ice Post: hi, I have 4 servers (now with 2 on and 2 off), so my networks has 78.26.93.12x subnet It had 78.26.93.123 ha principal domain (multi-pool.info - just an HTML server), while I use DNS redirect for the other servers (in the past 78.26.93.124 and 78.26.93.125 goes to two pools server,s now dismissed, so I point 78.26.93.125 to boinc.multi-pool.info, the one with BOINC server). Manufacter acknowledge that the disk is possible faulty and so open a RMA, but instead I will take an external disk (unfortunately it will be slower that actual solution, but it did not require 30 days of server downtime, and changes will require only some hours) that should arrive in few days. Thanks |

Posted 12 Nov 2017 by ice Post: hi, the server is now reachable even from here: http://boinc.multi-pool.info (multi-pool.info is my domain and it was created for my old 3 servers, so only boinc.multi-pool.info redirect the caller to the new server) so you can use http://boinc.multi-pool.info/latinsquares/ for attacking to the boinc server. For the disk problem I contacted the manufacter days ago for information as it is a very fast integrated SSD and those sporadic errors should never appears with a new server! However a backup off all the BOINC data (with DB too) is made every hours in an external removable disk. Thanks |
