Indeed, Confucius nailed that saying.
My last word on the subject. The stated goal of Formula BOINC is to bring extra crunching and attention to smaller scientific projects that need the extra help the most. That means working the best we can with artisanal servers to give as much help as possible. I'm afraid that cheating may lead to inaccurate results being incorporated in researcher's databases and I hate the idea of compromising their work.

I recommend that any admin that will be hosting one these various races is to reduce the work deadline to 1.5 x average completion time. E.g., 0.34 hours x 1.5 = 0.51 hours but make it one hour deadline. Bunkering fails then.

Hi Natalia, Sorry to see you're the latest victim of the many rude members of Formula BOINC.
Sadly Formula BOINC is host to many cheaters as you so clearly document in your post. They call this bunkering where they do as much work as they can before the race starts and then they upload the completed WUs for a spike at the start. But their intention is more nefarious than that, they also want to deny honest BOINCers their WUs and to wreak havoc with your server. At the end of the race they'll abort many thousands of WUs. I've never bunkered myself and never will so I don't know all their evil tricks. I do know they don't want honest BOINCers like myself to join their race. They create multiple clients so they can pretend to have more computers than they do. They use the BOINC configuration command <ncpus>N</ncpus> to pretend each computer has more CPUs than it really does. I suspect they've also figured out how to convince the work server that they need more work while not transmitting completed WUs back to the server before the starting gun fires.
<ncpus>N</ncpus>
Act as if there were N CPUs; e.g. to simulate 2 CPUs on a machine that has only 1. Zero means use the actual number of CPUs. Don't use this to limit CPU usage; use computing preferences instead.
