Over the last about 5 years I have installed, uninstalled and used way to many "remote control" desktop program/apps/services for use on a maximum of 4 home computers. Not one program lasted more than 12 months before claiming I'm using it for "commercial purposes" or I have violated the "terms of service" even though I very rarely used them to connect to my PC's outside of my home. The 3 worst offenders were:
TeamViewer - registered for a free account after installation. Was able to use it to remove connect to up to 4 desktop computers in my home without problems until 1 year & several days from installing before it told me I had to buy a commercial license. Went back and forth with the "tech support" team trying to fight the commercial use claim without success. They told me that my computers were "connecting to 'business', 'educational' and/or 'university' sites" transferring data back and forth automatically... (BOINC was specifically mentioned.)
AnyDesk - after 3 months, stated I need to register for a free account. So I did and got another 3 more months before it said I needed to buy a commercial license.The help desk refused to tell me what program(s) were causing it to require a commercial license.
RustDesk - after 1 month it wanted me to buy a commercial license. The help desk refused to tell me what program(s) were causing it to require a commercial license.

I finally went back to TightVNC for remote desktop within my home. Only drawback is it doesn't support sound and could not find a way to use it remotely outside of my home.

Like most other BOINC projects program/task, the tasks here are SINGLE THREAD and more than likely would not benefit from multiple thread.

Any updates on the return of the ODLK1 project?
ODLK1 boinc server status
08/08/2024:
With new server OS the Boinc software did not compile good. It need more time to make it running. However due to holiday period, this cannot be complete until September .

When I go to the SERVER STATUS PAGE I SEE this message at the top:

ODLK1/latinsquares server is unreachable again. Currently I have tasks suck in the middle of a download for over 1 hour because of the sever issues.
There seems to be a lot of problems the past few weeks with the ODLK1/latinsquares site......
Bad tasks being sent out; Upload/download problems; Server being unreachable for many hours at end and Lack of communication does not make a professional appearance to potential new users..

Appears there is something wrong with the ODLK1/latinsquares projects servers.
1) Web pages take FOREVER to load if they do not time out first.
2) Uploading tasks time out like the 2 previous posts in this topic mention. i finally got my batch of completed tasks to upload & report after almost 12 hour of constant retries/time outs.

Have been seeing this on quite a few tasks over last week or two and it is NOT JUST MY PC'S - EVERYONE DOWNLOADING these bad tasks are affected.
